3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - A Unique Experience
RESmart Auto delivers a unique experience with the Dual-Channel Quad-Phase technology. Monitoring the four respiratory events of upper airway via independent pressure and flow sensors, the 3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine adjusts treatment pressure automatically. If events no longer occur, the machine will gently reduce the pressure to the minimum settings. While maintaining patient comfort, the RESmart Auto also monitors and compensates for leaks.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - New Therapy Standard
Setting itself apart from conventional CPAP therapy, the 3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine offers a personalized response to the individual user. An advanced algorithm automatically adjusts pressure based on the patients upper airway information that is constantly being monitored. The 3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine combines an intelligent automatic pressure adjustment along with the proprietary exhalation pressure relief, RESlex to provide improved sleep apnea therapy.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - Apnea Response
An apnea is defines as a greater than 80% decrease in ventilation. After registering 2 apneas within 3 minutes, treatment pressure will rise. The higher the current pressure the lower the rate pressure will rise. Treatment pressure will stop rising when normal ventilation resumes and snoring events stop. When ventilation resumes normally for several minutes, pressure will begin to decrease. Hypopnea is defined as a 60-80% decrease in ventilation. After registering 6 hypopneas within 3 minutes, treatment pressure will increase accordingly.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - Snore Response
When a patient snores, sound is generated and the inspiratory flow/time curve is distorted by the frequency of the sound. RESmart Auto detects and calculates snore dB level breath-by-breath. When the snore dB intensity exceeds 50% higher than the background noise, an event is recorded. Pressure will increase after 3 snoring event s are recorded. The higher the pressure, the lower the increase pressure speed. Snore level is rated index based on the snoring events recorded to a percentage of breaths with snore.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - Flow Limitation
Flow limitation is the partial airway closure without snore. As the upper airway begins to collapse, the shape of the inspiratory flow/time curve changes and the central section flattens. RESmart Auto analyzes the curve shape pf each breath and calculates the distortion.
Flow limitation usually precedes snoring and obstruction. Detection of Flow Limitation enables the device to increase the pressure before obstruction occurs, making treatment preemptive. This is an important criteria for bot obstructive and central sleep apnea.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine - Sensitivity
Sensitivity setting maximizes patient comfort. The higher the Sensitivity setting, the faster the speed of pressure adjustment. The lower the sensitivity setting, the slower the speed of pressure adjustment. For patients that are pressure sensitive and subject to arousal during pressure changes, a lower sensitivity setting is recommended. At a higher setting, when ventilation increases rapidly and suddenly (i.e. during walking) the treatment pressure decreases quickly to improve patient comfort.
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine – RESlex
In Auto mode, you can select expiratory pressure relief (RESlex). RESlex provides exhalation pressure relief to patients. It is standard on all BMC CPAP and Auto-CPAP models. Expiratory pressure relief is designed to maintain optimal pressure for the patient during inhalation and reduce the delivered mask pressure. The desired result of RESlex is to decrease the pressure the patient must breath out against, making the overall therapy more comfortable.
- RESlex is disabled automatically in the event of an apnea.
- RESlex resumes automatically when the apnea event has passed.
- You can selecr a RESlex pressure drop of 0, 1, 2 or 3 (maximum of 3 cm H2O)
- When RESlex is enabled, the delivered pressure will not drop below a minimum pressure of 4cm H2O
3B RESmart Auto APAP CPAP Machine – iCode
What is iCode?
- iCode is web based. No software installation or direct cable connections are necessary.
- iCode is free, and comes standard on every model.
- iCode can be accessed anywhere at any time, by the DME homecare provider, physician or patient, allowing easy monitoring of patient adherence.
How does it work?
Sleep compliance data is encoded into a 14 character alpha-numeric string which is displayed on the device screen. Using the on-line report generator at www.bmc-icode.com the iCode string is decoded. An easy to read report may e printed for placement in records or saved as a pdf file.
Just a Phone Call Away
With iCode compliance data needed for reimbursement, as well as summary sleep data necessary for therapy monitoring, is quickly obtained with just a phone call. Patients can retrieve their iCode easily by pressing a single button on their device.
Best 30 Day Adherence Score
BMC’s iCode helps with reimbursement by providing a Best 30 Day Adherence Score. The best 30 day is a percentage of the best consecutive 30 days of usage that meets the CPAP LCD. Using an adherence threshold of 4 hours or more of continuous use each night, the Best 30 Day Adherence Score would show the best adherence percentage achieved for any rolling period of 30 consecutive days of use within a 90 day time frame.
Instructions on Using iCode
Important Note: iCode should be enabled at the time of device set-up. This is done as a set-up option in the Patient Menu.
- As part of the patient set-up, it is recommended that the patient be instructed on how to retrieve iCOde strings. The iCode string is retrieved by pressing the humidifier button/ Continually pressing the humidifier button steps through all iCode values (iCode 1 day, 7 day, 30 day, 90 day.
- Contact the patient and request that they read off the iCode numbers displayed on the device screen.
- To generate a report, go to www.bmc-icode.com There are three mandatory fields required to generate a compliance report: device serial number*, retrieval date, and iCode string. All other fields are optional and may be entered depending on the requirements for the report.
Generate a Sample Report
iCode is easy to use. Generate a sample report using the following data:
